Chrissy Stranger Things, a controversial character
Are you a fan of Stranger Things? So what do you think of Chrissy Cunningham, who was played by Grace Van Dien? We decided to talk about her a little, briefly, in the lines below.
What hides under perfection
At first glance, Stranger Things’ Chrissy is that typical, very popular teenager. And how could it be otherwise since she is the head cheerleader, she has Jason Carver, the captain of the high school basketball team, as her boyfriend. But, as you probably expected, always when things seem perfect, in reality they are not at all. The same is the case of Chrissy Stranger Things, who is actually fighting a fierce battle with depression, but also the problems with self-confidence, which resulted from the emotional abuse of her mother. Unfortunately for her, she did not have time to overcome all these problems, which evolved quite a lot, with some disturbing hallucinations. In the end, Stranger Things’ Chrissy ends up being killed by a terrifying emanoid that came from another dimension. Eddie Munson is the one who tried to wake her up from her trance and thus save her, but he had no luck.
Chrissy’s Stranger Things personality
As I mentioned above, Chrissy Stranger Things seemed like that kind of very popular teenager. In reality, however, she suffers from an eating disorder whose roots must be sought in the relationship with her mother, the one who forces her to maintain that perfect image.
Chrissy Stranger Things is constantly in a fight with herself, and hesitates to show this more vulnerable side to her friends or even Jason, her boyfriend. And again, what seemed like a perfect relationship actually simply hides a total indifference to each other.
Relations with the family
Chrissy and her mother, Laura Cunningham, even have an abusive relationship, and the latter made numerous comments about her daughter’s figure, which led to the appearance of problems with food.
At first glance, her relationship with Jason seemed perfect, but nevertheless she hid many things from him, such as the fact that the situation at home is not really happy. And, although he doesn’t know much about her, when she dies, it turns out that there are some feelings of love, mixed with pain and anger.
Eddie Munson and Chrissy have a rather… strange relationship. They first met at a talent show, where she was performing as a cheerleader and he was performing with his band, Corroded Coffin. Eddie really surprises by showing a lot of friendship and care towards our heroine. For her part, Chrissy comes out of her shell with Eddie, and manages to laugh heartily at his attempts to make her laugh and happily remembers the moments they spent in middle school. We will never know how their relationship could have evolved, because Chrissy is brutally murdered.
