November will be a great month for you if you live in Dallas and you are a chick flick fan. The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema ((100 S. Central Expressway #14, Richardson, TX 75080) will feature a special month of program called Tough Ladies.
We’re talking about movies with the fearless, handle their own business kind of women who slayer vampires, hunt Boo Radley, battle morning sickness and kill aliens.
This month the ladies are in charge with a lineup of films featuring some of our favorite tough ladies. From Scout, the tough little girl in To Kill a Mockingbird to the fearless Buffy, the Vampire Slayer you will love this special chick flick film series.
November’s Tough Ladies series includes these films:
For me, the highlight of the series is To Kill a Mockingbird, starring Gregory Peck as Atticus Finch and Mary Badham as Scout. Check out this special video intro by Amy Poehler for Kill a Mockingbird:
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer
Adventures in Babysitting
Thelma and Louise (Special Beer Dinner)
Bonnie and Clyde (Special Beer Dinner)
Kill Bill: Part II
The Lady Eve
Girlie Night: Nine to Five
Coal Miner’s Daughter
“We are thankful for a lot here at Alamo Drafthouse. In November, numero uno on that list is tough ladies, with programming including some of the best films featuring the most bad ass women in film from every genre and era,” said James Wallace, programmer.
November continues with more chick flicks, starring Tom Hanks in their T.HANKSGIVING series. (Get it?…T. Hanks Giving) T.Hanksgiving films include:
A League of Their Own
Saving Private Ryan (special Veteran’s Day screening with proceeds going to HeroesProject.org)
Turner & Hooch
“We’re also thankful for Tom Hanks (let’s be honest… who isn’t?), and there’s no better time than Thanksgiving to celebrate the aptly named T. Hanks with our T.HANKSGIVING series, featuring some of the everyman’s all-time greatest films!” Wallace concludes. “You won’t just have turkey, stuffing and pumpkin pie to fill up on this month; you’ll have a cornucopia of awesome programming at Alamo Drafthouse Richardson!“
More special screenings playing in November include A Streetcar Named Desire, honoring the 100th anniversary of Vivien Leigh’s birthday. Stella! Stella!
