The Golden Globe Nominations Are Announced: It’s Awards Season!

It’s here!  It’s here! Award Season has arrived with the SAG and Golden Globe nomination being announced recently. Today, the Hollywood Foreign Press announced nominees for the 69th annual Golden Globes and The Descendants and The Help both received five nominations each, with Moneyball, Ides of March and Midnight in Paris each earning four.

In the television, Downton Abbey and Mildred Pierce both have four nominations, and the series Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family, The Hour and Homeland each earned three nominations.

My favorite actresses Viola Davis and Meryl Streep both received nominations. Viola for her role in The Help, along with Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain for their standout performances.

In the television category, Mad Men is strangely missing from the nomination. Oh, yeah I forgot, there were no new shows this season. Matt Weiner, where for art the new episodes of Mad Men? We need a little more Don Draper in our lives.

Zooey Deschanel and her show, New Girl received nominations for Best Comedy as did Sofia Vergara. Kate Winslet and Evan Rachel Wood also received nominations for the HBO mini-series, Mildred Pierce.

The Descendants, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, My Week With Marilyn and Albert Nobbs are still on my list of movies to see. Which movies and TV shows do you think should win a Golden Globe Award?
