Have You Read Kathryn Stockett’s The Help?

This has been a very sparse summer for chick flicks, unless you count Larry Crown, so The Help, which open August 12th comes just in a nick of time.  I am so excited about the movie. So in anticipation of the upcoming movie starring Emma Stone, Viola Davis and Bryce Dallas Howard, I am finally reading Kathryn Stockett’s novel, The Help. Its summertime and time for a good summer book. [Yes, I know this is a movie website, but bear with me for a minute.]

It is the story of a young girl in Jackson, Mississippi during the 1960s who turns everyone’s live inside out when she writes book about her conversation with the black maids, nannies and housekeepers of some the small southern towns most prominent families. The 2009 novel was a best seller, but I must have been busy writing blog posts, because I completely missed it. Anyway, I am reading it now.

Have You Read The Help by Kathryn Stockett?

Hey , I have a super cool idea…Oprah’s Book Club is a thing of the past, so I guess I will have to pick up where she left off and start my own book club. I am still working on a snappy name… Movie Lovers Book Club, Chick Lit for Chick Flicks , Clarabela’s Book Club…anyway, we will keep working on the name of my book club.

In the meanwhile, let’s read The Help together and discuss it here on Just Chick Flicks before the movie is released in August.  I will even sweeten the offer by giving away 3 copies of the book to “join” my  yet un-named book club by leaving a comment . I will randomly select 3 winners on Monday, July 19, 2011.

Leave your comment in the comment section below to enter the drawing to win a copy of the Kathryn Stockett novel, The Help and take part in the discussion.

Order your copy  of  The Help on Amazon.com and join the discussion here,
on Just Chick Flicks on Saturday, August 6th.
