Knight and Day was released back in June and I hesitated seeing it. It just seemed like one of those movies that used all the best parts of the movie in the trailer. Also, I am not the biggest Tom Cruise and I don’t usually rush out to see Cameron Diaz’s movies either. However, until the recent release of Inception, this had been a pretty slow summer for decent movies. So I broke down and went to the theater to see Knight and Day.
Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz star in the action chick flick, directed by James Mangold (Girl, Interrupted). It is an action-packed romantic comedy with Tom Cruise playing Roy Miller, a CIA-type agent. Cameron Diaz plays June Havens, an auto mechanic who mistakenly gets mixed up with Roy and the search for a powerful energy source and the young genius who invented it. Roy and June embark on a glamorous and sometimes deadly adventure, that takes them to exotic locations.
Of course, all this adventure and danger lead to a little romance. It hate to say it, but I didn’t hate Knight and Day. I was a nice, entertaining movie. Cameron’s character, June was funny and provided some very comical moments when she was escaping from the while wearing in a bridesmaids’ dress and motorcycle boots. Hey, at least they didn’t have her running in 3-inch heels.

Spot on about the heels! Totally agree it was like a fresh summer breeze in that kind of scene 9 out of 10 directors would choose the easy laugh having her running in the stilettos.
I had fun with this movie. It wasn’t meant to be a Great Film and it was more like a screwball comedy. I tend to look at films in the context of the intent. I am not a Cruise or Diaz fan either but, with the exception of a few missteps, I thought this flick did what it set out to do.
@Laurie: You are right about Knight and Day. It was entertaining and I enjoyed it. I am glad I gave it a chance.
Thank you for visiting Just Chick Flicks.
Zzzzzzzzzzz..Oh, sorry! I fell asleep remembering just how long Knight & Day was. It did have it’s “moments” but I thought it could have been so much better. Some of the exciting parts were rushed through. It would have been more fun to see how they got into the mess.
