The movie ‘Precious’ has received as much flak this year as it has received fanfare. It’s an emotionally intense and draining movie, yes, but the story needed to be told. One of the best I’ve seen this year. Great review!

Much as I loved Gabourey Sidibe (that kid, she’s got promise to burn), for me “Precious” was all about Mo’Nique. I always liked her as a personality, but I had NO idea she had this kind of performance in her. She is quite simply amazing — bitter and cruel and angry and so, so tragic. For once in my life I agree that the frontrunner for the Best Supporting Actress Oscar deserves it.

thanks for this post (FINALLY! j/k). yeah this film was a tough pill to swallow. i didn’t think it was upliofting and i didn’t think it needed to be. one of the things i liked about this movie is that it brought to life svereal issues that have been buried within the community and kept under wraps. congrats to Sidibe and Mo’Nique for representing with oscar nominations this morning!
