Action Chick  Flick

You guys know I like Kung Fu movies. Come on…don’t hate. These movies actually qualify as chick  flicks. If you have seen  other Asian films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or House of Flying Daggers, then you know that the best action scenes are between the women. Actresses like Michelle Yeoh are also martial arts experts who know how to handle sword. Also, these movies are beautifully filmed and feature lavish costumes and gorgeous landscapes.

Red Cliff is a visually stunning war epic by legendary action director John Woo. It stars Tony Leung (Hero, Hard Boiled) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (House of Flying Daggers). Red Cliff is an epic historical drama based on a legendary 208 A.D. battle, as  two rebel warlords unite  to mount a heroic campaign  changes the face of China forever.

It’s a good movie! Clara makes a good point about the women getting to kick butt too in martial arts films. I like!

I would have to say they do qualify as “Action Chick Flicks”. Most of the martial arts movies I’ve seen have a pretty strong female lead, who can fight just as well as any of her male co-stars.
