Alfred Hitchcock remains the master of suspense. Last week I watched North by Northwest and Notorious (both with Cary Grant) and they kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time

Cool post! I like "old school" scary movies too. I just finished watching "Vertigo" and "Psycho" - both my favorite Hitchcock movies. It's funny because with all the special effects we have today, sometimes these "old school" scary movies are just as scary as the new films out there.

Great job on the review! Thanks also for the mention - you're awesome! :)

I don't always remember movies I've only seen once, but I remember Psycho. I saw it in my 7th grade English class and I loved it. It definitely made me check the locks to all the doors in the house, especially before I showered.

Ohh, perfect timing on this post since I just got a collection of 20 of his movies and tv shows.

Dial M for Murder was a great movie one that I need to rewatch and was Rear Window what the more recent Disturbia was based on? No wonder I liked that movie.

Hitchcock invokes not just terror but it is the buildup on tension that I think makes his work so compelling.

Great post!

I read that after watching the shower scene of HERSELF in that shower, Janet Leigh never took a shower again.

And "Rear Window" is such a great film; can't say enough good things about it. I only watched it for the first time a year or so ago. Goes on my list of top movies of all-time.

Trivia tidbit: Did you know that Janet Leigh is Jamie Lee Curtis' mother?

I'm glad Grace Kelly won for quintessential Hitchcock woman, I agree. Rear Window is such a great movie, it's probably my favorite of Hitchcock's movies. I remember the first time I saw Psycho, I was so surprised at how soon in the movie Marion dies. It's always weird when the main character of a movie dies.
