However, it's not your typical romantic comedy, and I can see why it got bad reviews. There were too many happy endings and too many "exceptions" to the rule. I had trouble relating to a lot of what the film was selling. I wrote a review as well and while I gave it a positive overall I just wasn't as flattering as you were! ;) Strangely though I've been hearing good things about The Ugly Truth from men and women. I did not read the book because it was irrelevant to my happily single life, but did see the movie and thought it was very cute in a refreshingly unconventional and unpredictable way. Loved the beginning where the little girl is learning to believe the lies her mother and girlfriends tell her. While it's true that a SIX year old may like you if he's mean, that barometer ends by the time you turn 8. From that point on...what you see is what you get. Men are not complex thinkers like women. The old analogy of Men = Dogs & Women = Cats is right on. If a man likes you he will move heaven and earth to be with you, if he doesn't, you will be on the bottom of his to do list. If that.
