Hell, yes, I'm a trekkie. While I appreciate TOS (the original series), I'm much more of a NG gal, with a little Voyager and DS9 thrown in for good measure.

The show was so optimistic about our future as a species I can understand why now is a good time for another movie. Although, I hate prequel, but will suffer this one since it's about my favorite character, Mr. Spock. So cool, so logical but fiery when in pan far (you know, that 7 year sex thang).

I actually attended a Trek convention years ago. What an experience. I don't know what scared me more: the fact the building was waaaayyyy over firecode occupancy regulations or that some guy dressed his infant as a Klingon, ridges and all.

Live long and prosper, people

You should try First Contact, Fletch. It's been called the Star Trek movie for people who aren't Star Trek fans.

I would never come close to calling myself a Trekkie, but I admit that I've seen a lot of Star Trek in my day and am eagerly antipating the new movie, which should be music to the ears of the producers, considering that I don't think I've seen one since Generations...

Zachary Quinto, who plays Sylar one Heroes, was also a fairly important character in 24's third season. I think he'll be an outstanding Spock.

I am a huge fan of ST Next Generation, I loved Jean Luc Picard and thought it was the best crew, stories, etc. I am looking forward to the new movie prequel coming out soon! Syrus (sp?) as something else rather Syrus will be intersting - he makes the perfect Spock!

I was never a closet Trekkie. I have always admired Uhura, and I would secretly imagine my mom on The Bridge of the USS Enterprise. (No! I'm not attracted to my mom)

But it was the position Uhura held that restored my confidence of how one day men would change their outlook of women. My mother was a Maid and I remember how ashamed I felt of her occupation. But then I saw Star Trek's Uhura and my outlook was broaden. I had all of these thoughts when I was a kid, around the ages of 9 & 10 years old. It's amazing what's kid's minds and how just one television can alter their outlook on the history of men and women. Nice piece, Clara.
