Slumdog Millionaire
Year after year, I watch the Academy Awards ceremony. Often with disappointment because they seldom pick the movies I like for Best Picture. They never vote for popular, big blockbuster movies as Best Picture. Generally, they pick movies that I have never heard of or some obscure, ‘nobody has ever heard of it’ movie as the winner. I sometimes feel they want to make the regular movie going public feel stupid because we don’t know what a good ‘film‘ really is.
That being said…I love Slumdog Millionaire . This time they got it right. Slumdog is a wonderful movie. It is an original and fresh story. With no Hollywood stars, but with a cast of unknown Indian actor, Best Director winner Danny Boyle created a little gem of a film.
The story is simple. A young man who grew up in the slums of Mumbai becomes a contestant on the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. But there is also the survival story of two brothers, who become orphans at a very young age. The story of the endurance and faithfulness of first love and so much more.
I was only the edge my seat several times and yes, there were also a few tears. I won’t spoil the movie for you, I suggest you see for yourself why it is really the Best Picture of the Year.
Have you seen Slumdog Millionaire?

This was the most original and really good movie I’ve seen in a long long time. I think it deserved all the Awards it won. I hope it opened the doors for it’s two young stars as well. They were incredible.
