The latest Bond film Quantum of Solace came out last week, much to the joy and elation of men worldwide. Since the 2006 release of Casino Royale, all of my male friends have been anxiously awaiting this action packed 007 adventure with the baited breath of new puppies.
Quantum of Solace, the 22nd Bond film stars Daniel Craig, the blond Bond. That is another subject, so don’t get me started. Needless to say, I miss Pierce and I am sure there are some Sean Connery fans out there too. Who knows, someone may actually think Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton or James Lazenby were also good Bonds.
The new Bond, blonde though he may be is non-stop action. He goes from one car chase, to another, crashing cars, exploding buildings all while wearing a tuxedo and romancing a beautiful woman. That’s why guys like James Bond. But why do women like him? What makes a James Bond movie a Chick Flick?
Why The Ladies Loves James Bond
- The Car: The Aston Martin. Don’t we all love a man with a fancy sports car equipped with rockets and ejector seats.
- The Tuxedo: Any man that can overthrow governments in formal attire can handle any emergency and is just plain cool.
- 007 is Deadly. There is something sexy about a man who has a licence to kill. Those of you who like bad boys can understand the lure a man with a dark past and lots of secrets. After all, who have more secret buried in his closet than a secret agent?
- Bond Girls: Unlike past Bond girls who made the mistake of falling in love with 007, modern Bond Girls like Halle Berry and Michelle Yeoh are great strong women who can take care of themselves in a fight and don’t mind a little romance from 007. Have you noticed that the ladies who fall in love with JB don’t last long, they always die.
- Pierce Brosnan: I couldn’t help it. He is my favorite Bond. Actually, he is my favorite. PERIOD. Seriously, that man can WEAR a tuxedo.

To point 5 let me just quote a line of the film “Lucky Number Slevin”:
“Scotland forever!”
For all the other points I couldn’t care less.
I prefered the Brosnan Bond, and the Moore Bond. I’ve reviewed it on my website. I just love Bond movies, but this last one was way out of sorts.
@Stephen I love the Brosnan Bond too. Although, I think we are in the minority in that opinion. Every seems to adore Daniel Craig.
I’m not a “Bond” fan. I think the movies are campy and old-fashioned. I will, however, agree with Anti-Pretty Boy… If you read the books, Connery and Craig fit the bill the best. I definately think that Bond movies should just be placed in the category of “mindless entertainment”.
@ Windy: It seems I am out-numbered on Daniel Craig. I read a few of the Ian Flemming 007 books many years ago, but that was after Sean Connery had taken the role, so he was firmly fixed in my mind as the quintessential Bond….James Bond.
(Glad you stopped by…)
Pierce Brosnan was probably the worst Bond along with Roger Moore. If you read Ian Fleming’s description of Bond, Connery fits the description along with Craig to some extent. A roughneck brought up on the docks made to wear a tuxedo and forced to be civilized. The quintessential assassin and bad boy who thinks every woman is just another plaything to pass the time until it’s time for the job. He’s overcompensating for his brief marriage and one true love. In the words of George Lazenby “Pierce Brosnan is a pussy” .
@The Anti-Pretty Boy: We agree on Sean Connery as James Bond. He is the perfect combination of handsome leading man and trained assassin. I am afraid I stand alone in my opinion of Daniel Craig. Even some of my gal pals love the Blond Bond.
But I am glad to have the male point of view.
